The DVSA has introduced strict new regulations regarding the booking and management of practical
driving tests across the UK in 2026 to clamp down on third-party resale services and make the system
fairer for learners:
Learner Verification (Effective May 2026): Driving instructors and third-party
cancellation apps can no longer book practical tests on your behalf. All learners must book,
change, or cancel their tests independently via the official GOV.UK portal.
Two-Change Limit (Effective March 2026): You are now strictly limited to a
maximum of two changes to your practical test booking (time, date, or centre
location). If you need to make a third alteration, you must cancel entirely and rebook.
Location Restrictions (Effective June 2026): When transferring a test, you are
now only permitted to move your appointment to one of the three nearest test
centres relative to your original booking.
Never use unofficial websites—always use the official GOV.UK service to manage your test
bookings.
🚗 Current Tuition Car
Updated: July 2022 | Source: Roy Stubbs
Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 petrol active – Fitted with Dual Controls and air conditioning for your safety and
comfort. It is an excellent tuition vehicle with all of my past and current pupils singing its
praises.
For around 20 minutes of the driving test, you will be asked to follow directions given to you from a
sat nav. This is being done to make the test more realistic. The sat nav will be provided and the
examiner will always be ready to step in and direct should the sat nav have any problems.
Two new manoeuvres
Instead of doing a turn in the road (three point turn) or reversing around a corner you will be asked
to complete one of two new manoeuvres:
Driving forwards into a parking bay and then reversing out.
Pull up on the right-hand side of the road, reversing a short distance and then rejoin traffic.
Show me question on the move
You’ll be asked to demonstrate how to wash the windscreen or operate the
heater while you are driving. This is currently done at the start of the test when you are sitting
still.
